3 Easy Ways to Update Your Living Room

It’s no secret that I love to decorate. It’s a fun process to shop and change up a space. My living room was a work in progress until recently. I’ve been in my place for two years but I haven’t found artwork I liked enough to buy. I was looking for two larger pieces since I have high ceilings and something colorful to bring life to the white walls. Enter; Photowall. A well-established Scandinavian wall-art company that was kind enough to gift me these pieces of artwork. See my fun pieces of art below. *This post contains affiliate links, which means I’ll receive a commission if you purchase through my links, at no extra cost to you.

Onto my recommendations for 3 easy ways to update a living room.

  1. Artwork

The artwork I chose for this wall is Garden Party I and II. They are posters in 16×20 frames that I thrifted for $4.99 each. When I was looking for art I wasn’t sure what I wanted other than something on the larger side and colorful. I thought that these pieces were fun with an Audrey Hepburn vibe. Perfect for a single 30-something woman living on her own. I made my poster selections and these showed up quickly. They came rolled up in a cardboard cylinder so they had to be laid flat. I laid them overnight with a few books on top and then I could easily get them into my frames.  I included links below to the pieces I purchased and Photowalls site.

2. Pillows

In my first apartment, I learned the impact couch pillows can have on a space. I had an older couch and the pillows were dating it even further. If I had the money I would have bought a new couch but as a fresh college graduate, a free couch worked. I opted for the budget-friendly and easy switch to new pillows. They helped transform the space! Here are a few looks I love

Jacobean Square Throw Pillow – Threshold™

24″ Oversize Velvet Round Floor Pillow – Opalhouse™

Dotted Stripe Throw Pillow with Zipper – Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia

3. Curtains

My last high-impact living room decor recommendation is curtains. Any change in what covers the windows will change the feel of the room. My apartment came with standard plastic blinds but to help make it more homie I opted for curtain rods and curtains. I enlisted the help of my professional hangers, aka my family for the curtain rod installation. Shout out to them for their help hanging the picture frames too. In total, I have four curtains. Two sheer which I put in the center to let the light in and two outer curtains for added privacy.

Leave me a comment if you try Photowall or any of these recommendations. Also, I love learning new tips so please share your decor ideas as well.
