How do I even summarize my dating life in 2023? In one word. Busy. No one made it past the 2 month mark. No one. I know what I’m looking for and I’m not going to settle. I’m direct about what I want, because why not? If I’m not on the same page as someone, I’m not going to waste my time.
How did I meet men this past year? I’m proud to say differently than in years past!
I tried my hand at Match.com. I was sick of pointless Hinge and Bumble dates that went nowhere. I wanted to weed out the less serious people and what better way than with a paid app! It was a good theory. Maybe If I had gone on more dates I would have had success, but after two duds I tossed in the towel! Both dates were coincidentally recovering alcoholics. One was up front about it and one was not. Neither got a second date for different reasons. I stopped paying for Match.
Two guys I met through being setup. My loving friend Sara, also a hopeless romantic, set me up with two eligible bachelors! Both guys were younger than me. On the whole they were decent people but when it came to dating we were NOT on the same page. One of them has a lot of internal work to do. What am I saying they both do! I believe to be in the correct place to date, you need to first be in the correct place with yourself. Which includes sharing a level of vulnerability with the person you are dating. I don’t believe either of these guys were romantically mature enough to do that. Without the dreary details neither of these setups worked out, but shoutout to Sara for trying to hook a girl up! You’re a real one, love you!
What are my thoughts on dating in 2024 you ask? I’ve given a lot of reflection on dating the past year. What worked? What didn’t? What did I learn? What can I do better? Self reflection is so important. I learned a lot and am trying new things this year. Overall, I’m happy with where I am at. My life is truly thriving, a boyfriend would just be a bonus. If my goal was simply to have a boyfriend, I would have one. I’m looking for someone to be an addition to my life. As for who I’m feeling this year? All I will say is there are some interesting prospects on the horizon, but these boys better be prepared to do work! 😉

a woman who loves dogs, can cook, seems very intelligent and someone who you could have a great conversation with.
and they can’t learn how a relationship/commitment works or how to make it work (thus improving themself.)
