A New Meaning to Breakfast Blend

Sharing my breakfast this week, obviously I like to mix it up! Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day so whether it’s homemade or I’m picking something up I like to go all out! Here’s a closer look at what I had this week, hope this inspires some breakfast ideas of your own!

Remember those acai bowls from last week? I repurposed them by adding a little bit more almond milk (or your milk of choice), popped it into the blender and voila great breakfast smoothie!

Cinnamon Toast with Raspberry Jam & Poached Eggs

I tried cinnamon toast this week for some variety, not quite as good as cinnamon raisin in my opinion but still good if you’re a cinnamon fan, topped with butter and raspberry jam! I paired this with two poached eggs, my favorite way to make eggs that just happens to have the added bonus of not being fried. I’m no expert, if the broken yolk up there didn’t key you in already 🙂 but I’ve got a few secrets up my sleeve for the perfect poached egg! To start boil water (in a larger pot if you’re cooking more than one egg), once it comes to a boil turn down the heat, stir the water in a circle and quickly crack your egg in getting it as close to the water as possible. The motion of the water will actually help to keep the white together, some say you can add a little vinegar to the water for the same purpose but I generally skip that step. Next raise the heat back to medium and set a timer for four minutes, this is the perfect amount of time I have found to still have a runny yolk. Top with cheese, everything but the bagel seasoning or whatever you fancy and enjoy!

Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal

Sometimes I keep it basic with a bowl of maple brown sugar oatmeal topped with cinnamon. Paired this with a decaf coffee with more than it’s share of caramel creamer, yes sometimes I like a little coffee in my cream 🙂 don’t come for me!

Dunkin Donuts, need I say more?!

Every once in a while I like to treat myself to Dunkin! I woke up early this morning and was craving a Dunkin iced coffee, the rest pictured above was just a bonus. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on an English muffin paired with two donuts (Boston cream and Strawberry with sprinkles). No, I didn’t eat them both in the same sitting but so what if I did!

A Cinnamon kind of day

I was feeling cinnamon on this morning. We’ve got a vanilla yogurt topped with cinnamon, buttered cinnamon toast and a decaf coffee with cinnamon paired with water for hydration purposes! Anyone else try to drink water before coffee?
